Recognizing that moms need time away with other moms to be loved and cared for, Colegio Alfa & Omega provided a weekend retreat for moms of current Alfa students in November. The theme was “SHINE”.
Sixty moms attended. They were eager to have fun and open to growing personally.
The women enjoyed a wide range of enriching sessions such as emotional health and skin care.
In addition, Silvia Villares, a Christian psychologist, provided practical tools for making wise life decisions and Hugo Walthon, co-director of Alfa & Omega, gave his testimony. The women were moved by Hugo sharing that despite life's difficulties, you can shine brightly, thanks to one’s faith in God.
The atmosphere was full of laughter, learning and pure joy. It included a silent disco, where the attendees enjoyed the rhythm of the music. The group dinner on Friday night was a walk through the five continents full of coexistence and satisfaction.
The retreat left a deep spiritual impact upon each participant each of whom carried home the essence of SHINE: a reminder of who can light your path, to stand out and to keep on shining.
TESTIMONIAL FROM ONE OF THIS YEAR’S MOMS:
Eunice!! Thanks for hosting Shine! I thought it was great! I have enjoyed making new friends and getting to know my old friends better. But I wanted to tell you that Hugo’s testimony truly touched my heart. At school, Hugo is so quiet and serious and now I have a better idea of why. I would also like to tell you that thanks to Hugo, we were able to get through a very difficult time with our daughter who now is doing very well. You don’t realize how difficult a decision it is for our family every year, to keep the girls in a private school like Alfa & Omega, but I am very glad that we do. Just thank you so much. And the truth is, this retreat has made me want to go to your church because I no longer feel understood by my old church. Maybe SHINE has been the signal!! Keep it up, You guys are great!
